It is time for another Viral Video Friday. Here are a few of the most viral videos for this week.
The first one is the “More Perfect Union” speech from Presidential candidate Barack Obama. I have to say for the first time I have some hope for American Politics.
The next video is cool for the geek in me, to damn long for the ADD in me.
The next one shows how much I love British commercials
If you missed SXSW like me, you can have an opportunity to hear all the artists and bands from the comfort of your ipod. I briefly mentioned it in an earlier post. A kind gentleman by the name of Greg Hewgill compiled music from all the artists that were showcased at this year’s SXSW. It is a little over 3 gigabytes of music. You will need torrent client to download the file. If you need help to download the file, go here for guidance.
If you download it and listen to some of the music, let me know some of your favorite tracks. I will post some of my favorites after I finish downloading the file. While you are waiting for your download take at a look at some of the video coverage of the event. (Update) I just fond out someone took the time to review the over 768 songs that is included in the torrent. Check it out here.
I just saw this video from Jay Smooth of Ill Doctrine. He discusses the fact that Ashley Dupree (i.e. She ‘worked’ with Elliot Spitzer) might get a record deal. Put it this way, I think the music industry is so desperate to make a dollar they will do anything including exploiting a scandal. I love Jay Smooth’s take on it and how it relates to Hip hop and the music industry. How do you feel about it?
I mentioned on the air that Moby is releasing a new album entitled Last Night, and that I will share with you the first single called “Alice”. I want to know if you dig it, and if we should have it on the station. Leave a comment at the end of the post.
One of my favorite reggae artist is Damien Marlely. His album “Welcome to Jamrock” was amazing. Check out his premiere video for One Loaf of Bread(Something For You). It is off the compilation Gang War.The message is very powerful.
I was going to create a huge post on SXSW with resources. Being th lazy person I am, I decided to just post this video from one of my favorite internet show called Epic Fu. The first part gives a summary with links to free music.
Also Express Milwaukee is covering the event with a list of some of the Milwaukee Bands performing in Austin.
And if you are down there or are heading to SXSW, check out this site called Sched.org. It can help you help you map out all the things you want to see at this year’s SXSW.
We get a lot of people asking about Sam Sparro. He is an Austrailian living in the city of Angels. His song, “Black & Gold” is in rotation here at RadioMilwaukee. His album drops soon over in the UK (no release date stateside). He just released a new video for Black & Gold, plus a free mix called “Songs Not Bombs” (hint: you can only get the mix if you live in the UK). Check the tracklisting for the mix and grab it. A perfect mix for the weekend.
