Aretha’s RESPECT is forty years old

On June 3rd, 1967, Aretha Franklin’s version of RESPECT reached number 1 on the charts. Her song was symbol of the civil right movement, a symbol for woman rights and it stood the test of time. At the Detroit Free Press, they put together a nice multimedia history of the song and the woman. Go check it out.

The multimedia on “Respect” by the Detroit free Press is indeed great. A real tribute to one of R&B’s greatest artist and challenging times.
